THE GRAND MOUNTAIN PLAINS IN THE SOUTH

Starting at Västvallen, there are several miles of great hiking trails. From here you can walk all the way into Dalarna and Storfjäten. There are also wonderful day trips, such as the hike to Ruttjärn and Mossaruten, and for those who want a longer hike, you can hike around Sömlingshågna.

After a warm day of hiking on the mountain, it will be refreshing to take a dip in lake Lofssjön.

START THE HIKE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE VILLAGE

The small mountain village of Lofsdalen is the perfect place for those who do not want to use the car on holiday. You can start several hikes from almost all cottage areas in Lofsdalen. If you live in the village, Lofsens Fjällby, Lövhammaren or in Höglandet you can follow the nature trail up to the top of Hovärken. You will find information boards about nature and animals along the way. These are made by the school children in Lofsdalen.

Halfway up the mountain, you can also turn off to Solgropen and Digervålen. If you continue up the trail, you will ultimately arrive at the top of Hovärken, 1,125 meters above sea level.

If you stay close to the ski lifts you have easy access to the mountain Hovärken. From Panorama and the upper part of Hovärken you are above the tree-line where you have several hiking trails just outside your cottage. From the cabins on Västvallen you can reach all the hiking trails on the south side.
