Fishing with children
Fishing with children should be both easy and fun, and it’s about creating positive experiences for the whole family. Start with a short trip to keep their interest up, and be sure to bring something that can boost the children's motivation, like a small reward if they hang in there or catch a fish. It’s also a good idea to pack a dry change of clothes, as it’s not uncommon for a little boot to slip further into the water than expected. Having an extra change of clothes provides comfort and ensures you can keep having fun even if clothes get wet.
It’s also important to remember that fishing with children doesn’t need to be serious or perfect. A good idea is to choose fishing spots where you can easily access the water without having to walk far—this makes the experience more relaxed for both adults and children.
Below, we recommend some easily accessible spots that are perfect for bringing the kids along.
Fishing tips
Dyckessjön
East of the village of Glöte, take the side road off Lofsdalsvägen and drive a few kilometers on a smaller gravel road. Once there, you'll find a great fishing lake with a strong wilderness feel where you can park your car right by the shore. There are shelters and barbecue spots available.
Lofssjön
Easily accessible fishing with several shelters located around the lake (refer to the fishing map for their exact locations). A tip is to drive to Västvallen and combine a walk along Trollstigen with some fishing.
Stråsjön
In this beautiful mountain lake, both char and trout can be caught. It’s about an 800-meter walk through mountain terrain from the nearest road. On one side of the lake, you’ll find shelters with fireplaces.
Glötessjön
Easily accessible fishing for the whole family. There is also a lovely beach, perfect for a warm summer day.
Sömlingån
Great fishing in flowing waters, ideal for bait fishing. The road runs right alongside the river, and there are two shelters located at different spots along the road/river.
FISHING LICENSE AND REGULATIONS
A valid fishing license is required to fish in Lofsdalen. These can be easily purchased online through the iFiske service or from local retailers. Children under 15 years old can fish without a fishing license.
Please note that fishing is prohibited in flowing waters from September 1 to October 31, including within 200 meters of the inlet and outlet of lakes.
